Quantity Surveyor
Location : London Borough of Tower Hamlets
Initial Contract Length: 6 Months
Hours: 35 hrs / week
Rates: £22.28 / hr

Our Client requires an experienced Quantity Surveyor to provide short term/interim cover within their Property Services department
To provide a range of quantity surveying services as required, to support a number of the department's work-strands, which may include:
* Major external works to individual blocks, procured under a newly let framework,
* Fire safety works schemes,
* Preparation and agreement of final accounts. Providing final account breakdowns to enable leaseholder billing

Essential requirements:
*Knowledge of undertaking the preparation of all necessary documentation including committee reports to enable scheme progression within Financial Regulations, Council Standing Orders and procedural requirements.
*Working knowledge of all procedural, legislative, good practise and current professional standards and ensure that these are appropriately applied to all designated projects and tasks.
*Knowledge of life cycle costing to specified materials, ensuring long term sustainability of investment.
*Ability to carry out resident and/or user consultation for all projects allocated.
*Ability to undertake the preparation of valuations, final accounts and invoice payments.
*Ability to establish the validity of contractual claims and disputes and undertake negotiation and settlement as appropriate.
*Ability to carry out site survey's with a variety of access equipment and measuring tool's.
*Able to ensure repair contracts are kept up to date and properly maintained as required.
*Developed communications, influencing and negotiating skills.
*Ability to set up and operate open book accounting systems.
*Report writing skills
*Ability to provide accurate stock data upon the completion of all schemes.
*Ability to represent the Council as an expert witness in legal proceedings.
*Ability to represent the Team at a range of service related meetings.
*Research abilities to inform the development of investment strategies.

Experience and qualification requirements:
*Experience of Feasibility and budget estimates.
*Cost planning experience.
*Experience of the development of brief details.
*Preparation of detailed schedules of work and bills of quantities experience.
*Budgetary advice and control experience.
*Quantity surveying expertise with a recognised degree in Quantity Surveying
