Senior Buyer - Construction
Location : Rochester
Contract Length: 3-4 months
Rate : £450-500 / day Ltd DOE

Our client, who is the leader in Power Utilities is currently recruiting a Senior Buyer who will be responsible for strategic procurement operations. The role will partner the Category Manager in leading several high complexity Strategic Sourcing Construction Events and delivering category strategy as part of a site expansion project. This will involve engaging and building strong and established working relationships with senior stakeholders to identify business needs and then ensuring they understand the supply chains so they can offer the best solutions.
Knowledge, Experience and Technical Know How
*Significant experience of leading end to end high complexity construction procurement strategic sourcing events and category management activities
*Ability to prepare for and lead high complexity negotiations (pricing and contractual)
*Strong research and data analytical skills with ability to convert information into actionable insight and present articulated outputs and recommendations to key senior management stakeholders.
*Ability to build and manage a range of complex commercial assessment tools
*A good knowledge of fundamental project management principles and strong demonstration of their application through evidence of managing multiple high complexity projects and consistently delivering outstanding results.
*Experience of contract development, including the ability to make recommendations and amendments to existing contracts as well as drafting new ones.
*Good knowledge of high complexity construction contract forms, terms and conditions.
*Evidence of establishing positive relationships and managing change with key senior management stakeholders.
*A level or equivalent, CIPS preferable

Key Accountabilities
*Deliver multiple high complexity Strategic Sourcing Events, working with stakeholders to understand and challenge demand and ensure the best possible solutions.
*Lead Category Management activities including the development and execution of category strategy and execute supply and demand levers including standardised strategic sourcing processes from market engagement through to award, ensuring goods / services are procured in a best-in-class manner that drives value.
*Work with Contract Managers to ensure the successful delivery of contracted activities, identifying continuous improvement opportunities through engagement with suppliers and stakeholders, and maximizing value for money from contracts awarded.
*Lead the overall development and delivery of assigned category strategy and share best practice across other category teams (as appropriate).
*Role model excellence in procurement standards, taking a proactive role in mentoring / providing guidance to Buyers and Associate Buyers to ensure best-in-class methodologies are adopted and utilized.
*Profile category characteristics and research supply markets, suppliers and assess trends, opportunities and risks feeding insights into the Global teams and Market and Supplier Development teams (as appropriate).
